If feasible feel free to email me because I also have a child that attends world champion martial arts school and was considering putting her in their after school day Care program. To read that is a major concern for me and a matter I would definitely look into as I plan to decide what after school care I decide to put my daughter into.
I need to report an incident that took place with my 11 year old daughter at World Champion Martial Arts located on All Saints Road in Laurel MD recently. I am not sure if this is the forum for me to post this, but I need to let this known. There is a child care worker at World Champion Martial Arts by the name of Mr. Kelly that works with the children on a daily basis. He is in his late 50’s or 60’s and he works with the before and aftercare program. His responsibility also includes driving the children back and forth to their designated schools and taking them on various field trips.
My daughter started the center in June of 2013 in the summer program as well as the Tae Kwon Do program. Once the summer was over, I felt very comfortable having her remained at the center in the before and aftercare program and the Tae Kwon do program as well. Mr. Kelly on a daily basis always compliments my daughter on how good she is. Each time I would pick her up in the afternoon, he would tell me that my daughter is very quiet and that she gives no problem and he is very proud of how she is always doing her homework. I trusted Mr. Kelly because he was always speaking well of my daughter.
On Friday, May 2, 2014, I was taking my daughter to before care in the morning, and she told me that Mr. Kelly has been saying inappropriate things to her, such as asking her if she has hair on her legs, and when she told him yes, he asked her where else on her body does she have hair and she said she told him nowhere else. She stated that while she was sitting down doing her homework, Mr. Kelly told her that she was a very beautiful girl and that he also likes her dimples and smile. She stated that he proceeded to ask her to come sit next to him, and when she did, he told her that he liked her perfume and that she should let him know if she ever needs anything and he would give it to her. She stated that he is always staring at her and winking his eyes. I decided to confront Mr. Kelly that afternoon after work, but when I arrived at the center, he had left early that day. As I picked up my daughter and was about to take her home, she started crying and told me that she wants to be removed from Mr. Kelly’s room because Mr. Kelly fondle the back of her neck and then he quickly walked away.
I immediately went back into the facility with my daughter and reported it to the owner who seemed very shocked, but at the same time was not offering me any resolution. She offered to refund me my tuition and told me that she did not know what else to do. I then left and filed a police report. At this time, I am not sure this is being taken seriously by the police department because according to them, it maybe a friendly touch.
My daughter is not the same. Her spirit has been broken and she is always looking sad. I am very upset that this man will continue to work around children because no one is taking the report that was given seriously. Can someone please advise me on what else to do? I will not be sending her back to this center.
