KinderCare in Lanham has been providing children ages six weeks through 12 years with quality care since 1991. We have consistently maintained innovative educational programs that prepare children for school and inspire a lifetime love of learning.

Findings: On this date an Complaint Inspection was conducted on this date. LS did not receive written notification regarding the new Director. The new Director is currently a director at another facility. The new Director arrived at the facility during the Complaint Inspection at 11:30 am. The Teacher in charge of the facility answered questions during the Complaint Inspection.

Findings: On this date an Complaint Inspection was conducted on this date. LS did not receive written notification from the facility ending employment the current Director. The Teacher in charge of the center and the new Director did not know the current Director's last day. LS investigated the status of the current Direct and discovered that she has been working at another facility since January 15, 2026.

Findings: During the Complaint Inspection the new Director arrived at the center at 11:30 am. LS arrived at the facility looking for either the current Director or the Teacher In charge of the facility. The Teacher in charge of the facility is currently out on sick leave since February 15, 2026. LS interviewed the new Teacher in charge of the center during the Complaint Inspection. The new Director stated is currently the Director of another daycare facility and this location. LS observed no evidence of the new Director's qualifications during the Complaint Inspection. The new Director stated that she was qualified by the Office of Childcare and would send her documents by March 3, 2026.

Findings: LS observed no evidence of an incident report completed for a child that was using scissors that cut their shirt and shoelaces. LS requested the incident report to be completed and the child's emergency form. LS requested written statements from all staff members involved in the incident in Room B. The two staff members that were present in the classroom during the incident were not present or on break during the complaint inspection. The Teacher in charge of the center stated that the two teachers in Room B were present during the incident, however the child wasn't listening during the classroom activity. The Teacher stated that Room B had two staff members presents and that one of the Teacher reached out to the parent immediately by calling but did not document the incident with a written incident report.

Findings: LS observed evidence of an incident that happened in Room B, parents were called and child's shirt was cut by scissors and maybe the shoelaces per the new Teacher in charge of center. One of the staff members was present with a small group of children during a classroom activity using scissors. A child used the scissors to not complete the activity, but to cut their shirt and maybe the shoelaces per the new Teacher in charge of the center. All staff members must ensure that activity materials are used in a safe and appropriate manner by each child in attendance.

The parent works for the center's corporation, and the parent left their child for the rest of the day.
