My son attended head start here, his teachers were very good. Ms. Pierre is an excellent teacher, her assistant Ms. Marcia was beloved by my son. Its a job done under duress, as many of the children enrolled are from rough family backgrounds, the teachers and administrators deal with lots of discipline issues and family issues that intefer with the learning process. My son after attending Gerry Sweet, went on to one of the best private Pre-K programs in the city on Brickell Ave. I must say that the core basics skills, reading, writing and math, learned at Gerry Sweets, allowed him to excell at the private school level, as he possessed advance skills in basic core that his peers at that school did not have. His kindergarten readiness test scores were very high.I could only imagine what competent teachers like Ms. Pierre and Ms.Garcia could do in that environment, free from discipline issues and family drama, with tremendous parent involvement in the learning process. The woman who runs the Center, Ms. Debbie, is a top notch administrator, who does a lot with so little.
