About the Provider

Head Start is a free preschool for eligible families that specializes in the educational and social development of young children age 3-5. Our number one goal is to prepare children for kindergarten. Our curriculum takes into account the importance of social skills and group-work while focusing on the necessary educational skills.
Head Start is available in either one of our centers or in your own home.

The Head Start Home Base option focuses on parents as educators and includes regular home visits by an assigned home visitor who works with families and supports parents in meeting the needs of their young children. Home Base is available anywhere in Washington or Morgan Counties. Our centers offer 3-½ hour classes four days a week and provide transportation where available, breakfast or lunch and a snack. Both of our options provide services for children with disabilities, family nights, parent groups and more.

Head Start teachers are constantly receiving the most current training in childhood education and development. We also work closely with the local school systems on many issues and have an on-going evaluation process that allows the teachers and parents to monitor the child's progress.

Program goals are set for improving the school readiness of children that align with the requirements and expectations of the schools. School readiness goals are the expectations that children's evolvement of language and literacy, cognition and general knowledge, approaches towards learning, physical well-being and motor development, and social and emotional development will improve children's' readiness for kindergarten.
Additional Information: This facility participates in the federally funded Child Care Food Program, and meets USDA nutrition requirements for meals and snacks; Provider first licensed on 10/15/2003;
