I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My special needs child spent close to a year at this center after her previous daycare closed during Covid. The positives are that the facility is newer and they were willing to honor the rate paid previously at another facility.

On average, there was some sort of issue daily from 1) not logging my child into her virtual pre-school classes (according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools) 2) problems with feedings (see next paragraph), 3) daily sheets not being completed at all, 4) an ant infestation (which I witnessed), 5) my child’s glasses not being put back on after naps/giving her a nap without taking them off (SHE WAS ALSO GIVEN NAPS WITH A BOOKBAG ON HER BACK), 4) an alleged mouse in my child’s bag, 6) the check-in/out system malfunctioning, 7) the center not being secure, and 8) daily sheets (see attachment) having false information (in my child’s case rather than inform me of when she was fed, they wrote down when they SHOULD have fed her; I think nap times were falsified as well because it said the same nap times often.)

My number one issue with the facility is leadership as it pertained to my child, who uses a feeding tube. After an entire year, there was still too much confusion amongst staff on how to work the device, when feeds take place, tucking in my child’s tube after feedings, etc. I was assured from day one (day 100 and 200 also) that “We can handle your child, …no problem.” At the end of the day, too many staff gave statements like, “I don’t know,” or “It wasn’t me,” when trying to determine why things were so inconsistent with care.

After my child was not fed about 3 weeks ago (photo attached is what I sent the director that evening informing her an entire feed wasn’t given), I was encouraged to find another daycare rather than answer my question of, “How are you as a director going to address this problem with staff?” WHERE’s THE EMPATHY FOR A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD WHO’D HAVE TO START OVER AGAIN MAKING NEW FRIENDS?

I would not recommend this center if professionalism is a priority. No daycare can get EVERYTHING right, but with the Learning Express Center, accountability is lacking, leaving little room for improvement.

I appreciate the care given by a few of the staff and despite my complaints, the director is congenial and friendly to the families being served, but I believe new leadership is necessary to provide better structure, staff support, and consequentially service for the children.
