Description: Since 1959, Strycker’s Bay Neighborhood Council, Inc. (SBNC) has existed to assist low- and moderate-income families of the Upper West Side by providing direct counseling and services in the areas of affordable housing, neighborhood stabilization, economic self-sufficiency, and youth development. At SBNC, we believe that these issues are interrelated, particularly on the familial level; thus, in addressing all of these concerns, we offer families and individuals the resources, tools, and skills necessary to combat the most pressing problems that they face on a day-to-day basis, and through this process we play an integral role in breaking the cycle of poverty and welfare dependency.
Racial and economic differences dictate jarring disparity in access to resources, information and services. All of Strycker’s Bay’s programs seek to bridge the gap between heavily needed services and the individuals and families who need them. Both the Youth Development and Housing Social Services provided exemplify matching people with appropriate resources so that they are empowered to advocate for themselves. Strycker’s Bay engages a diverse array of New Yorkers, bound together by stories and experiences of struggles and challenges faced, collective action taken and shared triumph secured.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.
