Description: We believe that young children learn through their play experiences, through intellectual challenges, and social interaction with both peers and teachers. Young children need to explore at their own pace and in their own style and be given ample and appropriate choices and experiences throughout the day. The curriculum, therefore, offers a balance between planned teacher initiated activities and supervised free play that allows children to explore areas that interest them and thus to contribute their ideas to the program. Because children can best master and integrate information through their direct, personal experience, free play using a wide variety of materials is an important part of each day.
