About the Provider
We recognize that different children have different learning styles, rates of learning and developmental levels. Therefore, the curriculum evolves from the interests and needs of the children. It is our belief that in order to enhance the whole child they will need sensory, concrete, hands-on learning experiences. To that end the classrooms are designed to nurture curiosity, exploration and investigation. We believe that children learn best when allowed to explore and arrive at answers and understand concepts through their own process of thinking. There is time for independent activity and cooperative efforts.
A Child's Delight Too views childcare as an extension of home life. Parent involvement is desirable and, in fact, necessary in order to enhance the overall development of the young child. We encourage parents to participate in a variety of ways, such as, bringing their talents and expertise to the classroom, serving on the Board of Directors, attending family activities, and, most importantly, providing insight into their child. Because a child's self-esteem is very precious, staff are employed who like, respect, and enjoy children, and who delight in the milestones of development that takes place in the early years of life. Staff are encouraged and expected to participate in a variety of types of staff training, including classes, workshops, independent readings, in-services, etc.
Interaction between staff and child is encouraged to foster problem solving and creativity. Currently there are 15 individuals on staff. In addition there are foster grandparents and volunteers.
A Child's Delight Too, Inc. opened in 1980 as a center. The center is located in the Faribo West Mall and is licensed for 60 children (ages 6 weeks to 13 years).
