We have been at La Petite for over 4 years, and it was great for about the first 3 years. The teachers were wonderful. Then there was an issue where the school closed suddenly for licensing reasons and the communication was poor, so we had to scramble for care. Things went downhill from there. Recently there has been an issue with a child (white skin, this will become pertinent later) who is hitting the other kids to the point where they are bruised or bleeding, one kid has been sent home once for bleeding after an attack. We've talked to the director multiple times but nothing is being done. She says nothing can be done unless the hitter's parents take some action. Meanwhile, a different kid (brown skin) who used to have a behavioral problem has a 1:1 teacher. I really worry about all of the messages this is sending my child, namely that hitting is something that we will just have to learn to live with if it's done by a white kid. Not a great message to send to anyone, but particularly little girls. This used to be a great place, but now I'm counting down the days until I can find an alternate situation that is safe and doesn't send my kid warped messages about the world.
