I have used this provider for less than 6 months
I disagree with all the negative reviews above. My child attends this daycare full time and we are very blessed and happy to be part of the GCCCC Family. The directors are incredible, by the book, they have been there for over 30 years and are on top of it. They are always engaged with the children, staff and parents. They answer all my questions, are very accommodating and patient. I love my child's teachers. They take care of my toddler like she is one of their own. She is always happy there, we even have a teacher that is fluent in Spanish and teaches the kids. The classrooms are super organized, my child is always happy when I pick her up. She is learning a lot and she loves her little friends. As a Federal Agent, I couldn't be happier! This building is super secure and right across from the Boston Police. We are blessed to be there. I love the fact that I work on the same building and get to be part of her learning process. Thank you to the highly skilled, experienced directors and our amazing teachers.
I could not agree with the above views more. Staffing is also fudged where they move staff around when parents are in the room or if early intervention is present. It also appears, at least in one of the rooms the head teacher has a relationship with a student in which preferential treatment is given. Please feel free to contact me at cell@rocketmail.com. As parents, our concerns should be heard.
I was very displeased with the management of Government Child Care Center. While, as a parent, I did feel like the teachers within the Center were loving and caring to the children. The directors of the program seem to only be concerned with the licensing requirements and the need to maintain contactors ("Food Venders") happy, over the priority of the care and wellbeing of the children within the center. There have been multiple times when parents have expressed frustrations with the actions/inaction of the Directors. In my experience, parents concerns are either dismissed or not responded to. As a federal employee, the only benefit of the daycare is the close proximity that a parent has to their children.
Excellent Facilities in a wonderfully secure building in superb location next to North Station/TD Garden. A young staff with genuine love of working with children. Site director has over 20+years history with the center. Downsides are high turnover of teachers and a lack of caring by the directors for the health and well being of the staff. Making teachers work with high fevers and other illnesses and not allowing them to use bathroom facilities when they need to is normal practice. They are more concerned with following the letter of the law with state regulations then they are in real life human needs.
So if you are a parent looking for a place for your child and are not concerned that the staff leaves out of discontent on a regular basis then this is the place for you. If you are a teacher looking for a job and don't care much about being treated with respect this is the place for you.
Finally, the head director (who doesn't really work with the kids that much) has a fantastic resume in the childcare world and a sunny smile. She can get almost any kid to nap. Don't let that fool you. She is a stone cold b**** who makes up reality to suit her.
