About the Provider

Description: The P.S. 312 OST program provides experienced, well-trained, and committed staff members to work with our youth that also provide positive peer and adult interaction. A few of the many things that PS 312 OST program offers are academic assistance that includes homework help and project-based learning, as well as stimulating activities that complement the school day curriculum. The program also provides regular engagement in fitness, sports, dance and arts and culture, as well as archery, cooking and drama. The program emphasizes on strong relationships with the local community, such as engaging our youth participants in intergenerational activities within the community’s senior programs. During holiday breaks while public schools are closed, the OST program operates as a full ten hour holiday camp. During holiday camp students receive hot breakfast and lunch, as well as participation on field trips and exploration of other New City communities.

I have used this provider for less than 6 months

My first experience was at the orientation where we were handed this contract and sat in an auditorium as who I believe was the director read the contract to us. At the end of her reading we had questions and she seemed to have an attitude like we were bothering her, speaking to us in an undermining and sarcastic tone. Well I guess she may have had a bad day, still not an excuse. My 5 year old attends the program at 312 and even there I've experienced Some staff to be rude and unprofessional. There's a lack of communication which then leads to unnecessary confusion. My child is not too happy there but since it's convenient we are tolerant. He often complains about not being able to color or when they are promised a fun activity like watching a movie or outdoor activities they don't follow through, and they have to put their heads down a lot. Most parents complain that they are not allowed to pick up their children until after 5:15? What if there's a problem where you have to pick up your child? This is because they miss out on homework help and activities but when you check their work it's incorrect and or missing. Then we're left to do it over and it's almost bedtime?? So for those parents who work late and need free babysitting then this might work for you, otherwise don't expect too much and deal with your child being held hostage after 5:15 and if you show up before you will be turned away by rude unprofessional staff. These are the people that spend time with your children.
